According to the Act, an industrial design is appearance of the whole or a part of a product resulting from the features of, in particular, the lines, contours, shapes, colours, texture, material or ornamentation of the product, if it is new and has individual character. In simple words, an industrial design is the appearance of an object, so it may be an original shape or a modern design. A product protected by an industrial design must be new and have individual character. Industrial design protection is granted for the maximum period of 25 years from the date of registration with the relevant office. The holder of a registered industrial design has the exclusive right to use the design for profit or for professional purposes.
